Can I bring My dog?
If you’ve booked a camping site, or private accommodation, absolutely bring your pooch! Please also have any and all registration/vaccination paperwork on hand. There are dogs that live on the property. Please clean up after your animals
Can I shower?
Our indoor accomodations have 3 shower stalls (one of which is ADA accessible). Our campground also has an outdoor shower
Can I cook?
Inside the hostel we have a small kitchenette with cooktop, toaster, microwave and sink. By all means, please cook! Just make sure to leave the kitchen cleaner than you found it. We’ve got all necessary utensils for our indoor guests. Our campers have the option of cooking over the campfire, or bringing a portable cooktop with them.
If I’m a camper, can i go in the hostel?
Campers are unfortunately not allowed in the hostel. This is a facility that hostel guests have paid a premium to utilize.
Can i bring my RV?
Barn Door Hostel and Campground strictly caters to tent/hammock campers. RVs and trailers/tiny homes are not allowed. We do have a limited overnight space for camper vans (maximum length 23ft), pop ups, tabs etc.
What do I need to bring?
If you are inside the hostel: you should bring your toiletries, a towel (we have towels for rent for $2), slippers/slides (there are no shoes allowed in the barn, we have a few slippers you can borrow if you forget). Please do not bring your personal linens/sleeping bags. All beds are equipped with a fitted sheet, duvet and pillow .
If you are camping: you should bring your camping gear and appropriate clothing, a grill grate for cooking (if necessary), trash bags (we have a pack in pack out policy), and a good attitude. Please be prepared to walk to your site if you’ve booked the Barn Door Bus, or the upper campground. If you don’t have your own camping gear, please check out Effortless Adventure
Do you offer Appalachian trail shuttles?
We offer shuttles to the Appalachian Trail on Rt 25A in Orford, Rt 25 in Glenclif, and Rt 118 in North Woodstock for a fee. Please ask a staff on duty for coordination.
Where can I buy gear?
We have gear!! (courtesy of Talcott Mountain Sports). We also sell ice and rock climbing guidebooks for purchase, chalk, Barn Door branded apparel and pint glasses. Plymouth Ski and Sport is the closest alternative option for adventure (mountain bike, ski, kayaks) gear and rentals.
Do you rent gear?
We rent crash pads for $15 per pad per day and stick clips for $10 per day
Do you allow kids?
Anyone over the age of 12 is welcome, as long as they are accompanied by an adult. The rate is the same for everyone age 12 to 999 years of age. Anyone under 12 may not stay in the hostel, and may camp given prior correspondence with staff.
When are quiet hours?
Quiet hours are between 11pm and 7am. Please be respectful of all guests.
When can i check in/out?
Check in is from 3pm to 10pm. Any late arrivals may be charged a fee unless prior correspondence with staff has occurred.
Check out is 11am. Please strip all sheets from beds before leaving. Place the sheets in the laundry basket provided in your room.
Do you provide sheets? towels?
Our beds are equipped with a fitted sheet, duvet, pillow/case. We have additional blankets for those extra chilly nights upon request. We have towels for rent for $2 for the duration of your stay. Please place soiled towels in the hamper. Please strip all sheets from beds before leaving.
do you have potable water and bathrooms?
Water inside our hostel is safe for consumption. Our campground has a water bottle filler located at the communal space next to the pump house that is also safe for drinking. The hostel is equipped with several toilets and showers. The campground has portalets in our drive in field and compost toilets in our walk up field.
How long can i stay?
We have a strict 14 day policy
Can I book a bunch of friends/large group?
Groups larger than 8 persons that MUST contact the us before booking via email at info@barndoorhostel.com. There is a 25% non-refundable deposit due upon booking.
Do you offer guiding?
