Barn Door Hostel located in Rumney New Hampshire, was founded by explorer & beer connoisseur, David Cook in 2018. The hostel is located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and 2 miles away from world class rock climbing. As a company, we are focused on providing the most comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Our commitment to excellence is evident in our friendly staff, our immaculate hostel rooms, and our in depth knowledge of the surrounding area.
We primarily cater to rock climbers and outdoor enthusiasts, but also offer group stays as well as private rooms for those rare weekend getaways. Rock climbing is now an olympic sport and made its debut in the Tokyo 2020 Games. Sport climbing, bouldering, and speed climbing are the three disciplines judged during the competition. Rumney has two of those types (sport and boulder) of climbing—on real outdoor rock—in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire.
The hostel provides 4, 8, and 10 bed mixed accommodations as well as 3 private rooms. The Barn Door Hostel is situated on 9 acres of rolling meadow and also provides tent camping, car camping, and hammock hanging. There is a brook on the property for swimming and bathing. The White Mountain National Forest is literally in our back (and front) yard. In the spring, summer, and fall you can easily walk to the main climbing crag as well as closer, smaller crags. In winter time we are located less than a quarter mile from hundreds of miles of famous New Hampshire snow mobile trails, as well as having ice climbing and mixed climbing located right down the street! If you’re looking for something to do on your day off or down time, we are surrounded by thousands of miles of hiking trails (the Appalachian Trail is just 13 miles from us) as well as roaring waterfalls, pristine lakes, tasty breweries, historic covered bridges, and phenomenal local cuisine. Check out our blog posts for Dave’s Faves, top 8 climbs under 5.8, as well as the best breweries in the area!
